The Seiko SMGG19P1 is one of the exclusive watches with genuine space history. You may think of the typical few models that are renowned for being worn in space, but the Seiko line that has come to be known as the 'Rotocall' by enthusiasts, has been a favorite among astronauts during the 80s.Ā
The reason for this is was not big marketing Dollars, but practicality - you could change the function of the watch by simply rotating the bezel. This is also why the bezel has the distinctive shape, to allow for easier operations.Ā
And now, Seiko has brought back this amazing model again, which also makes it one of the more affordable, cool and wearable space watches out there. The watch has a plethora of functions embedded, such as aĀ chronograph, alarm, calendar and a countdown timer.Ā
The 'Rotocall' is an excellent blend of watches; not a digital watch and the respective features, but also as a casual/sports watch that looks just... very retro and cool.Ā
In terms of size it comes in at a modest 37mm diameter with a mere 10.64mm thickness and 43.49mm lug to lug distance.Ā
A lovely piece, conversation starter and tool - both on earth and in space!
